Why am I getting an error when connecting my email?

When you first link your Gmail or Outlook inbox with VE Proactive Email Assistant, the system begins syncing your messages securely in the background.

If an error appears during setup, don’t panic — it usually means Google or Microsoft temporarily blocked the connection, not that something’s wrong with VE.

Here’s how to understand what’s happening and how to get connected quickly.

Common Connection Errors Explained

Error Message

What It Means & What to Do

400 / 500 Error

This usually comes from Microsoft’s servers. It’s temporary and will resolve on its own — try again after a short while.

Rate Limit

Outlook has detected too many requests in a short time. Wait for about an hour before trying to reconnect.

Error Connecting to Google

Often caused by duplicate accounts or missing permissions in your Google Workspace. Reconnect using your primary Gmail login.

“Sorry, we’re having trouble signing you in”

The email you used doesn’t match your VE workspace domain. Check that you’re signing in with the right account.

Quick Fixes That Usually Help

  • Turn off browser extensions — Password managers, ad blockers, or popup blockers can interrupt the sign-in window.

  • Wait and retry later — Some connection errors (like rate limits) clear automatically after an hour or two.

  • Revoke and reconnect VE’s access — In your Google or Microsoft account settings, remove VE from “Connected Apps,” then authorize again.

  • Double-check your login address — Make sure it’s the same email used for your VE account.

  • Try incognito mode — Logging in privately avoids cached sessions or conflicting cookies.

  • Match your domain — If your VE workspace is tied to @yourcompany.com, you must connect with that same email domain.

If Your Password Is Correct but It Still Fails

Even if you’re entering the right password, these small checks often solve the issue:

  1. Open VE in an incognito or private browser window.

  2. Ensure you’re signing in with the correct Gmail or Outlook account.

  3. Reauthorize VE by removing it from your connected apps list, then reconnect.

  4. Confirm your email matches the one listed in your VE workspace under Settings → Account.

💡 Pro Tip:
If your company uses managed Google or Microsoft accounts, your IT administrator may need to whitelist VE.ai as an approved app before you can connect successfully.
